‘It’s hard not to feel anything but immense excitement about South African wine these days.’ — Will Lyons, Wine Columnist for the Sunday Times

In his recent article, South Africa: The world’s most affordable fine wine, Lyons shares his growing enthusiasm for South African fine wines and the newest generation of local winemakers. He comments on the low Rand value and as a result, when comparing the South African Bordeaux blends to their Bordeaux and Napa counterparts, he is continually surprised by how reasonably priced our local wines are.

Master of Wine, Greg Sherwood, talks about the future of South African wines, saying that, ‘the untapped potential is amazing.’ Lyons also adds that the next generation of winemakers are beginning to draw a lot interest with their Chenin Blancs, Chardonnays and Mediterranean-style reds.
