The results from the annual Drinks International: World’s Most Admired Wine Brands have been released and M. Chapoutier has been ranked the world’s most admired French brand. ‘This award shows that France and its wines have a fine future in store,’ says Michel Chapoutier, a renowned producer based in Tain-l’Hermitage in the Northern Rhône.

The panel, made up of over 200 Masters of Wine, sommeliers and journalists, judge wines across all regions and styles according to five explicit criteria:

  • Continuous quality improvement
  • Ability to meet demands and tastes of the target consumers
  • Reflection of the terroir of the the region of origin
  • Packaging and marketing
  • Brand’s global appeal

Michel Chapoutier took over his family’s struggling estate in the Rhône during the early 1990s. Today, and 25 years on, the M. Chapoutier brand is a thriving global flagship of winemaking and its sales volumes have increased 25 fold.

Michel Chapoutier has triumphed thanks to his unwavering drive for quality. He strives to create wines that fully express their terroirand has become France’s largest producer of biodynamic and organic wines. But perhaps, the approach to which he owes the most success is his determination to offer great quality wines across all price ranges.

‘I am very pleased and proud that Maison M. Chapoutier is the world’s most admired French wine brand. It encourages me to continue our strategy of offering quality wine at all ranges and price levels. It proves that in France, successful wine requires an across-the board approach.’ — Michel Chapoutier
