A new-release Boekenhoutskloof, the first in almost 15 years, signals the renaissance of South Africa’s biggest calling card – Stellenbosch Cabernet Sauvignon.

‘The Helderberg is to Stellenbosch, of course, what the Médoc is to Bordeaux: the home of Cabernet Sauvignon, and our duty was clear.’  Marc Kent

After the unparalleled success of their Cabernet in the Franschhoek Valley, earning no fewer than 9 Platter’s 5 stars, Boekenhoutskloof decided to invest in Stellenbosch, purchasing the historic Helderberg Winery in 2009. The elegant 2014 vintage is their maiden Stellenbsoch release and showcases the Helderberg Mountain’s special terroir.

The 2014 was vinified from selected parcels and contains a touch of Cabernet Franc. As expected, it is finely crafted and speaks confidently of the class and importance of Cabernet Sauvignon – in Stellenbosch, but specifically the Helderberg Mountain.

We offer a world premiere of what could become the most important release of the year.

Tasting Notes

Boekenhoutskloof Stellenbosch Cabernet Sauvignon 2014 – R 420
Red fruit, perfume and dark florals bound from the nose, along with a savoury, dried-herb thread. The palate is silky, finely crafted and poised with wonderful harmony and a long, textured finish. The fine oak will need a bit of time to settle; this is certainly a wine for the cellar. Drink 2018 – 2025. A brilliant addition to the Boekenhoutskloof stable. – Wine Cellar
