Tim James — the South African wine journalist behind Grape.co.za — explained yesterday how, having never been one for collecting glasses designed for different kinds of wine, he has been won over by the ‘One for All’ glass by Gabriel-Glas.
In his guest article with Winemag.co.za, ‘Tim James: On the importance of decent wine glasses,’ James recounts his initial reluctance to enter the market for luxury wine glasses saying, ‘The absurd cost of the things kept my lust in check.’
When he finally decided to take the ‘leap’, James came across the Gabriel-Glas at ‘about half the price’ of other such glasses available in SA, invested in 6 and hasn’t looked back. ‘I use them for a treat now and then, and when I have really good wine to drink,’ says James.
Recommended by the Wall Street Journal as well as Master of Wine Bob Campbell, this lead-free, Austrian crystal glass is mouth-blown and weighs only 90 grams. The Gold Edition is available in 6 and 2-piece sets
(R 2,150 and R 795 respectively).
