In the latest edition of the Decanter magazine, Tim Atkin proclaims that just eight short years after its inception, ‘Crystallum has established itself as one of the best cool-climate producers in the Cape.’

After his recent visit to South Africa, Tim Atkin MW was full of praise for the latest Crystallum releases. He considered The Agnes Chardonnay 2015, from vineyards in Greyton and Overberg, ‘the best Agnes release yet,’ and spoke of how the Peter Max Pinot Noir 2015 was ‘crowd-pleasing’ and ‘fragrant’.

Peter-Allan has taken part in Wine Cellar’s Young Guns tastings several times and, in June, both he and his famous father, Peter Finlayson of Bouchard Finlayson, were featured as a father and son duo at Young Guns Reloaded.

Tasting notes:

Crystallum, The Agnes Chardonnay 2015 — R 205
From vineyards in Greyton and Overberg, this is the best Agnes release yet, combining zesty citrus peel notes with subtle making and a creamy texture. Drink 2016 – 2021. — Tim Atkin, 94 points

Crystallum, Peter Max Pinot Noir 2015 — R 215
This is always the earliest release of the Crystallum Pinots, and it’s made in a juicy, fragrant, crowd-pleasing style, with summer berry sweetness and whole-bunch spice. Drink 2016 – 2019. — Tim Atkin, 92 points
