‘The young guns are still leading the way,’ says Tim Atkin in his newly released South Africa report. The only two 98 pointers in this year’s report are both produced by past and present Wine Cellar Young Guns – Reenen Borman for the Boschkloof Epilogue Syrah 2014 and David and Nadia Sadie for the Hoë Steen Chenin Blanc 2015.

The Hermitage-like Boschkloof Epilogue Syrah 2014, first shown at Young Guns Reloaded in June, is Tim’s Red Wine of the Year. ‘It sets a new benchmark for Syrah, combining the experince of Jacques Borman with the youthful brilliance of his son, Reenen. A wine that wouldn’t be out of place in a range of top Hermitages, it’s a stunning achievement.’
