In celebration of World Champagne Day, we are delighted to offer the latest vintage of one of the region’s greatest prestige cuvées. Taittinger Comtes de Champagne is 100% Chardonnay from 6 Grands Crus and is only produced in the finest vintages. Aged for 10 years on the lees, it acquires a hauntingly beautiful, Burgundian style with the structure to age for many decades.
Antonio Galloni calls the 2006 a ‘magical Champagne in the making’ with 97 points, while a massive 19/20 from Jancis Robinson suggests this is one of the finest Comtes de Champagnes ever.
Another remarkable new Taittinger release is the tightly wound 2008 Vintage Brut. 2008 has been the most eagerly awaited of vintages and Decanter awards it 5 stars! A 50/50 blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, it is a precise wine with wonderful texture and serious length.

Taittinger Comtes de Champagne 2006 – R 2,150
The 2006 Comtes de Champagne is striking, especially in the way it brings together elements of ripeness and freshness in a hypothetical blend of the 2002 and 2004. Smooth and creamy on the palate, the 2006 is all about texture. There is a real feeling of density and weight in the 2006, qualities I expect to see grow with time in the bottle. All the elements fall into place effortlessly. The 2006 has been nothing short of magnificent both times I have tasted it. Comtes de Champagne remains the single best value (in relative terms) in tête de cuvée Champagne. I suggest buying a case and following it over the next 20-30 years, which is exactly what I intend to do. There is little doubt the 2006 Comtes de Champagne is a magical Champagne in the making. Drink 2016-2046. – 97+ / 100, Antonio Galloni
Disgorged April 2013 for this tasting. Very lively bead indeed. Very sumptuous nose seems eerily close to fine white Côte d’Or burgundy. Still tight and very glamorous. Really classy and explosive. Hugely promising. There is delicacy and charm here. Drink 2015-2025. – 19/20, Jancis Robinson
A vivacious Champagne, with fine integration of the racy acidity and chalky bead, rich mineral character and creamy palate of glazed apricot, ground anise, biscuit and passion fruit flavors. Offers a firm, focused finish. Drink now through 2030. – 94/100, Wine Spectator
Taittinger Vintage Brut 2008 – R 895

Offers a lingering, spiced finish. Drink now through 2026. 50/50 Pinot Noir Chardonnay. – 93/100, Wine Spectator
