At the recent ProWein ceremony, the Institute of Masters of Wine bestowed the 2017 Winemakers’ Winemaker Award on Eben Sadie of Sadie Family Wines.

The award, whose winner is selected by a panel of winemaking Masters of Wine, has been given every year since 2011 and acknowledges those who accomplish the exceptional in winemaking.

When commenting on Eben’s win, Chairman of the Institute Jane Master MW said, ‘Eben’s determined search to produce outstanding wines has put Swartland and South Africa on the map.’ Masters explained how delighted she was that the Master of Wine Winemakers had rewarded his dedication and talent, saying how the award was truly well-deserved.

It is a major honour to be receiving this award and I would like to dedicate this to the great team of people I have by my side that have helped me over the years to grow closer to a dream. For a great wine is not the work of one,’ said Eben when accepting his award.
