Craven is one of the most interesting wine projects in South Africa. It’s part of the rediscovery of the best vineyard sites in Stellenbosch that’s currently underway, with a whole group of young guns looking to find the gems and make interesting wines from them.’ – Jamie Goode

In his recent article, Jamie Goode highlighted the winemaking couple, Jeanine and Mick Craven, and their ‘site-specific, honest wines’. According to Jamie, the more hands-off and low-interventionist you are in your winemaking, the more you need to know. With their 2016 releases, it’s very clear that the Cravens know their stuff!

Producing single-vineyard wines only, these 2 Stellenbosch revolutionaries know their vineyards like the back of their hands. The grapes are picked early and treated with great respect to represent the vintage and terroir. Using no yeasts, fining agents or new oak, and only adding minimal amounts of SO2, the Craven wines are unfined and unfiltered.

Now into their 3rd year of commercial production, the growing international demand means that Mick and Jeanine’s wines sell out every year.
