Vin de Constance is one of the world’s greatest sweet wines and the 2015 is causing a real buzz in the European market. Just released, it maintains its impressive track record with Tim Atkin MW regarding it as ‘one of the greatest ever vintages of this iconic sticky’ and naming it his Overall Sweet Wine of the Year.

Ensconced as a collectors’ favourite, previous vintages offered a great return on investment and, from such an acclaimed vintage, the 2015 is a must-buy for anyone with a serious cellar.

In the hands of energetic Matt Day, there has been a continual shift towards greater freshness and purity of fruit. Each new vintage of Vin de Constance sees nuanced improvements and ever more attention to detail; preserving its icon status. Made from vine-ripened Muscat de Frontignan, it has been vinified and matured in its own dedicated cellar since 2014. The aromas are typical of Vin de Constance but it is the well-integrated oak, superb balance and defined finish that shine through in the 2015.

Tasting notes:

Klein Constantia, Vin de Constance 500ml 2015
Even better than the 2014 release – and that was a spectacular sweet wine – the 2015 Vin de Constance is one of the greatest ever vintages of this iconic sticky. More Barsac than Sauternes in terms of weight, it’s fresh and refined, a bit like the 2012, with citrus and orange zest balancing the 172 grams of sugar. The oak is perfectly judged, the length and freshness things of wonder. Drink: 2019-2030. – Tim Atkin MW, 98/100
