After rigorously testing 5 ‘best of the best‘ universal wine glasses, Wine Folly has chosen the Standard Gabriel-Glas as the ‘World’s Best Wine Glass‘. Watch the video. We love the versatility of these exceptional glasses and have been using them at our tastings and events for 2 years.
Learning how to judge the perfect wine glass takes a lot of experience which is why Madeline and her team held off on assessing stemware for several years. After testing nearly 100 glasses, they narrowed down the world’s top selection to 5 favourites – Zwiesel, the Jancis Robinson + Richard Brendon ‘1’, Zalto and both the Gabriel-Glas Standard and Gold editions.
‘Naturally, it was impossible to pick just one,’ says Madeline, so they chose two. Considering that the Gabriel-Glas is the least expensive of the 5, at under R200 per stem, we know we’re on to a winner here.
The Gabriel-Glas was designed by renowned Swiss wine critic René Gabriel, who set out to produce a ‘One for All’ glass that would complement everything from Champagne to red wine. The Gold edition glasses are mouth-blown, weighing only 90g, while the Standard glasses are machine molded and are slightly heavier and more robust.
