Join Ex Animo Wine Co. and Wine Cellar on Saturday, 3 August at The Shortmarket Club for the second annual Cape Town winter wine party.

This year, you have the chance to upgrade your ticket to ‘Gold’ and join an exclusive Champagne and MCC masterclass where you’ll taste some of SA’s best alongside Dom Pérignon 2008, gain access to the winemakers and their wines before doors open, and take home a Gabriel-Glas Standard Edition wine glass, valued at R165. Limited to 30 tickets.

The 2008 vintage of Dom Pérignon is the best vintage in decades. ‘The finest release of this iconic cuvée since the 1996 vintage,’ writes the Wine Advocate.

An informal atmosphere and vibey music will set the tone in the gorgeously upmarket setting of The Shortmarket Club and the edgier neighbour The Commissary. Both venues are headed up by rock star restaurant duo Chef Wesley Randles and Simon Widdison and have stormed to the forefront of the culinary game.

With only 130 tickets to this exclusive tasting party, this year sees the Shinding making 30 special Golden tickets available, priced at R700. Inlcuded in the ticket price along with the canapes lunch is a Champagne Masterclass tasting. This experience will include 2 MCC’s and 4 Champagnes, with the final star tasted the Dom Pérignon 2008, and hosted by James Pietersen of Wine Cellar and David Clarke of Ex Animo Wine Co. Starting at 11h30, the Golden ticket also includes a Gabriel-Glas Standard Edition stem – valued at R165.  Guests will be able to meet, taste and mingle with the winemakers before the doors open officially at 12h30.

The Silver tickets are priced at R400 per person and includes a canapés lunch from The Commissary and provides wine lovers the opportunity to taste the wines and meet with the convivial wine makers.

The culinary fare of The Commissary uses only the most impeccably sourced ingredients, and the eats are sure to pair perfectly with the wines on offer. Along with stellar service and set in the achingly hip space with its sumptuous modern club feel and open kitchen at The Shortmarket Club with the paired down non-nonsense graffiti linfused interiors of The Commissary, The Shortmarket Shindig 2: The Commissary Connection, is sure to be a hit with foodies and wine-lovers alike.

There will be outstanding boutique wineries showcasing their wares, and wine-lovers are sure to enjoy and explore true Cape wine land gems.
