The 2024s from Vouvray’s most famous address are here! It was a tumultuous vintage, but Domaine Huet has drawn on nearly a century of experience to produce three gorgeous Sec Chenins.
First up is the original Huet vineyard, Le Haut-Lieu, purchased in 1928. This vintage is pretty and vibrant, showing airy, lemony, apple blossom notes. Cool spring conditions ensured ample acidity and energy, expertly softened by around 6g/l of residual sugar and balanced by a lovely salty, citrus finish. ‘This is a classic at this address … gaining roundness with time in the bottle,’ wrote Yohan Castaing of Wine Advocate.

Both Clos du Bourg and Le Mont are introverted at this stage, autumnal in character – think walking through an apple orchard in cold, rainy weather, before settling into tarte tatin and chamomile tea. Deep, complex, grounded and quietly seductive, Clos du Bourg is ‘stunning with impressive range’ (WS). Le Mont shows a more mineral and majestic profile – it’s ‘a crystalline expression of Vouvray’ (WA).
Due to only Sec wines being produced in 2024, we also imported one of our all-time favourite bubblies, the Huet Pétillant in 750ml and magnum formats, alongside a handful of the estate’s legendary sweeter wines.

Tasting Notes:
‘Notes of lime, herbs and spring flowers preface the 2024 Vouvray Le Haut-Lieu Sec, a medium- to full-bodied, lively and incisive dry white with a chiseled palate framed by a delicate bitterness and a long, ethereal finish. This is a classic at this address that could gain roundness with time in the bottle.’ – Yohan Castaing, Wine Advocate, 91/100
‘A fresh, salty, floral and expressive version, with a burst of lemony freshness behind its crunchy apple, nectarine and meadow blossom notes. Salty, tangy and savory, with subtle tones of warm spices, but this is mostly about freshness and savory purity.’ – Wine Spectator, 91/100
‘A lacy, seductive version, with impressive range to its notes of chamomile, heather, honey water and blanched almond, all atop a crunchy core of quince and nectarine. Its sneaky density builds, electrified by juicy acidity that uplifts the plumpness. The elegant finish is marked by smoke and a cool rush of alpine herbs. Stunning.’ – Wine Spectator, 93/100
‘More introverted and shy in comparison to Haut-Lieu, the 2024 Vouvray Clos du Bourg Sec wafts from the glass with aromas of grapefruit, confit citrus, lime and spring flowers. Medium- to full-bodied, dense and phenolic, it’s slightly austere with a tannic mid-palate that leads to a gently bitter finish. This refined yet structured wine needs some time in the cellar to chill out.’ – Yohan Castaing, Wine Advocate, 92+/100
‘Delicate, vibrant aromas of pear and white peach mingled with spring blossoms introduce the 2024 Vouvray Le Mont Sec. Medium- to full-bodied, it is both dense and lively, built around a fleshy core of fruit, bright acidity and a slightly incisive texture that carries through to a long, ethereal and finely saline finish. Purer and more mineral than Clos du Bourg, this is a crystalline expression of Vouvray—even within the framework of this challenging vintage.’ – Yohan Castaing, Wine Advocate, 93/100
‘A silky, streamlined beam of green plum, star fruit and pear blossoms is dusted with green herbs. Salty density builds, with the purity of fruit bolstered by succulent acidity and chalky mineral notes. Floral high tones grace the finish, which shows precision and focus. Beautiful now but a bit tightly wound; this will taste better with time in bottle.’ – Wine Spectator, 93/100
