We’ve analysed the numbers and there’s no doubt about it – buying wines on release via our new Collector’s Portfolio is the best way to build your cellar. It has two clear benefits:
1) You actually have the wines at maturity and don’t have to look for them on the open market.
2) The overall cost is much less on release compared to buying at maturity.

Our first formalised wine portfolio was offered in 2018, with a focus on incentivising the market to hold on to great wines for consumption or resale at maturity. This resulted in more mature wines being available on the market than 10 or even 5 years ago. Today we are offering a basket based on the same principles, now called the Collector’s Portfolio. The aim is simple: Buy wines that have great intrinsic quality and the ability to retain or even build value. In theory, this ensures the buyer has mature, well stored wines to consume when he or she chooses – at a lower overall cost. But what does the data show us?*
| Porfolio 1, purchased 2019 | Portfolio 2, purchased 2022 | |

| Cost incl. cellaring | R56 715 | R53 460 |
