An informal atmosphere and vibey music will set the tone in the gorgeously upmarket setting of The Shortmarket Club and the edgier neighbour The Commissary. Both venues are headed up by rock star restaurant duo Chef Wesley Randles and Simon Widdison and have stormed to the forefront of the culinary game.
With only 130 tickets to this exclusive tasting party, this year sees the Shinding making 30 special Golden tickets available, priced at R700. Inlcuded in the ticket price along with the canapes lunch is a Champagne Masterclass tasting. This experience will include 2 MCC’s and 4 Champagnes, with the final star tasted the Dom Pérignon 2008, and hosted by James Pietersen of Wine Cellar and David Clarke of Ex Animo Wine Co. Starting at 11h30, the Golden ticket also includes a Gabriel-Glas Standard Edition stem – valued at R165. Guests will be able to meet, taste and mingle with the winemakers before the doors open officially at 12h30.
The Silver tickets are priced at R400 per person and includes a canapés lunch from The Commissary and provides wine lovers the opportunity to taste the wines and meet with the convivial wine makers.
The culinary fare of The Commissary uses only the most impeccably sourced ingredients, and the eats are sure to pair perfectly with the wines on offer. Along with stellar service and set in the achingly hip space with its sumptuous modern club feel and open kitchen at The Shortmarket Club with the paired down non-nonsense graffiti linfused interiors of The Commissary, The Shortmarket Shindig 2: The Commissary Connection, is sure to be a hit with foodies and wine-lovers alike.
