We recently hosted an exclusive launch of the 2022 Vilafonté Series C alongside Bordeaux giants including the 100-pointer Lynch-Bages Pauillac 2019! Vilafonté was outstanding, and one thing rang true throughout the lunch: Vilafonté embodies luxury.
Tasting the 2007, 2015 and 2019 at the launch last week, underscores the consistency, attention to detail and sheer longevity of the Series C. It is clear that this property is on an upward trajectory, and we agree with owner, Mike Ratcliffe, when he says ‘their best wines are in the future’.
The Series C 2022 is 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 10% Malbec. It boasts deep cassis, interwoven with blackberries, cigar box and dried orange. The palate is densely packed with layers of ripe fruit and oak spice and a long, dry and persistent finish. Drink now, or over the next decade.
