Vulpes Chama Chenin 2023 – World-Class & Extremely Limited

Nuschka de Vos launched Vulpes Chenin 2022 last year and the wine sold out in record time. The excellence tracks on in this release.

South Africa is producing world-class Chenin and the 95-point Chama Chenin Blanc 2023 is right up there with the best of them. Having access to some of the greatest old-vine blocks in the country, it’s brilliantly rendered, with personality in spades.

From two vineyards in the Paardeberg, planted in 1986 and 1996, the wine boasts white florals, peach skin and concentrated lime with a chalky texture and savoury nuances. If you love verve, complexity, quiet fruit expression and a lingering finish, this is for you. Only 800 bottles were produced.

Three wine bottles with animal illustrations and prices, with a logo and "ORDER NOW" button.

Two more wines have been added to Nuschka’s portfolio this year. The 96-point Velox Chenin Blanc 2023 is from the Citrusdal Mountains and shows incredible concentration of fruit. It’s poised and saline with a flavourful finish that lasts at least a minute – and just 300 bottles were produced.

The Cana Cabernet Sauvignon 2023 from Polkadraai in Stellenbosch is an exciting example of the variety, unlike anything we’ve had before. With notes of fennel bulb, bright red cherries, plenty of cassis and earth, it speaks of the incredible terroir. The tannins are powdery and intensely flavoured with a super-dry finish.

All three of these releases are flying out of the cellar, so move quickly to avoid missing out.
