Just In: Platter’s Latest 5-Star Wines

Nov 25, 2024 | All, Local wines | 0 comments

The launch of Platter’s was a wonderful occasion hosted by fifth-time Winery of the Year, Sadie Family Wines. We were struck by the excellence and overall sense of resilience as South African wine continues to increase its quality offering. With 259 wines and Cape Fine Brandies awarded 5 stars, we bring you a selection of some of the finest available.

We’re also excited to highlight six 5-star wines that offer super value from both established and up-and-coming woman winemakers.

Hamilton Russell Vineyards, which turns 50 next year, is a deserved recipient of the Editor’s Pick of the Year, while Terra Loci was named Newcomer of the Year. Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon were all notable performers. Chenin Blanc continues its strong performance with 40 five-star ratings, followed by Chardonnay with 30, and both Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah with 21.

The 2025 guide results are available now on Platter’s digital platforms – the apps for iOS/Apple and Android, and their website. The bestselling and collectible hardcover version of the new edition will be released towards the end of November.
