Du Bois: A brilliant new discovery

After tasting many exceptional Chenins in 2025, the maiden release of Du Bois Chenin Blanc was an absolute standout.

For ninety-three years, the grape-growing Du Bois family have shaped some of the most respected and quality driven vineyards in the country. With a wealth of knowledge, the fourth generation has finally produced their highly anticipated release.

Alive, compact and focussed, it’s a cerebral wine that keeps drawing you back in – and for that reason, one of our top discoveries of 2025!

On the outskirts of Stellenbosch, this parcel is cooled by False Bay winds and is rooted in distinctive red- and blue shale soils (rather than Stellenbosch’s granite-led landscapes). Planted in the 80’s, this gnarled vineyard has a proven track record, being the backbone source of many renowned bottles by other great winemakers. And now, after years of developing a deep understanding of their land, the skilled Du Bois’ get to put their own name on the bottle.

An exciting future lies ahead for this dedicated family and you are specially invited to be part of their first small bottling story. You can purchase the wine online.

Tasting Notes:

‘The result is a wine of precision, restraint and quiet confidence. The nose shows pear, peach, a hint of flinty reduction, plus subtle floral and herbal notes. The palate is focused and taut – good fruit concentration matched by racy acidity, finishing pithy and dry. Lean but not overly so, tightly wound and long.’ – Christian Eedes, Winemag.co.za, 94/100
