The magical Skurfberg mountain produces some of the rarest and most unique Chenins in the country. This is one of them. For more than a decade, Botanica’s Mary Delany Chenin has consistently been rated 95+ by Platter’s, Winemag and Tim Atkin MW, with the 99-point 2024 crowned Chenin Blanc of the Year in the Platter’s Guide.
We like to think of this as the perfect autumn wine, offering generous fruit, savoury complexity and plenty of texture on the finish. From vines planted in 1957, the powerful 2024 is full of personality and will really shine after three years (and beyond) in your cellar. Minuscule quantities are produced and only a few cases are available, so secure it while you can.
The vineyard is planted in a harsh environment, where extreme wind, high heat and poor soils produce wines of extraordinary intensity and complexity.
This benchmark Chenin is a fitting tribute to one of our great wine growers – Henk Laing – and continues to set the bar very high.
