2025 is turning out to be one of the greatest red wine vintages in SA. The Syrahs we’ve tasted so far have been superb, and Reenen Borman’s Boschkloof Syrah is up there with the best of them. It captures the vintage’s trademark brightness, length and depth of fruit – offering unbelievable value for a wine of this stature and quality.
Reenen is a Syrah lover of note. He creates the cult Sons of Sugarland as well as the Epilogue Syrah – consistently one of SA’s most profound examples of the variety. His 2025 Boschkloof Syrah has an intoxicating perfume with notes of peppercorn spice and blood orange, and a fresh palate that’s simply delicious.
Produced from various sites on the farm in Stellenbosch, including the Epilogue vineyard, the 2025 saw some whole-bunch fermentation and 10% new oak. Once again, Reenen has crafted a wine that strikes the perfect balance between complexity and drinkability.
